Steps for your phone or carrier

Tap your carrier or phone type. Not sure which applies? Text or email us.

Verizon (cell phone)

Forward all calls: dial *725551234567 and press Call. Listen for the beeps, then hang up.
Only when you don't answer (or are busy): dial *715551234567 and press Call.
Turn it off: dial *73 and press Call.

AT&T (cell phone)

Forward all calls: dial *21*5551234567# and press Call. Wait about 3 seconds for the confirmation tone.
Turn it off: dial #21# and press Call.
Only when you don't answer: use the call forwarding settings on your phone (see iPhone or Android below), or check with AT&T.

T-Mobile (cell phone)

Forward all calls: dial **21*15551234567# and press Call. Turn off: ##21#
When you don't answer: **61*15551234567# Turn off: ##61#
When you're on another call: **67*15551234567# Turn off: ##67#
When your phone is off or has no signal: **62*15551234567# Turn off: ##62#
Change how long it rings first: add the seconds (5 to 30) like this: **61*15551234567**20#

iPhone settings

Open Settings, tap Apps, then Phone (on older iPhones: Settings > Phone).
Tap Call Forwarding and turn it on.
Tap Forward To, enter your receptionist line, then tap Back.

This forwards all calls. It works on carriers like AT&T and T-Mobile. If you don't see Call Forwarding, use your carrier's codes above or check with your carrier. To turn it off, switch Call Forwarding off.

Android settings

Open the Phone app and tap the menu (⋮).
Tap Settings, then Calls or Calling accounts, then your carrier.
Tap Call forwarding and pick Always forward, When busy, When unanswered, or When unreachable.
Enter your receptionist line and tap Turn on.

Menu names vary a little by phone maker. To turn it off, go back to the same screen and tap Turn off.

Office landline or internet phone

Many landlines: pick up, dial *72, then your receptionist line. Dial *73 to turn it off. Codes can differ, so check with your phone company if this doesn't work.
Internet phone services (like RingCentral, Google Voice, Comcast Business, Spectrum Business, or Ooma): forwarding is usually in your account's call settings online or in the app. Look for "call forwarding" or "call handling," or search your provider's help pages.

Canada

Rogers (cell phone): forward all calls with *21*5551234567#. Cancel with ##21#. Rogers notes that forwarding only when you don't answer may not work while voicemail is on.
Bell home phone: dial *72, then your receptionist line.
Telus, Bell Mobility and others: use the iPhone or Android settings above, or check with your carrier for their codes.

✅ Test it

Call your business number from a different phone. If you forward all calls, your receptionist picks up. If you forward only missed calls, let it ring. You'll get a call note when it's done.

↩️ Turn it off anytime

Use the "turn it off" code or switch for your carrier above. Calls ring your phone again right away.
